The 16th “Mihajlo Idvorski Pupin” Science and Education Camp officially opened on Wednesday at the Community Hall in Idvor, Mihajlo Pupin’s birthplace, where the camp is being held from 8 to 15 July. The opening ceremony was attended by Aleksandar Car, Deputy Director of IMP-Automatika.

This year’s camp is dedicated to the “Application of Computer Science and Electronics in Physics.” Through hands-on work with microcontrollers, sensors, and modern software tools, the programme aims to foster scientific curiosity, interdisciplinary thinking, and an engineering approach to problem-solving.
On Friday, the camp participants—11 of Serbia’s most accomplished high school students in mathematics and physics-visited the Institute Mihajlo Pupin. During their visit, they attended presentations and met with the Institute’s researchers and engineers, learning more about its activities and current projects in information and communication technologies, automation, and advanced industrial systems. The students also toured the IMP-Automatika production facilities and the military simulation classroom, where they had the opportunity to see the Institute’s technologies and solutions in real-world applications.

“The visit to the Institute gave the young participants a unique opportunity to see how theoretical STEM knowledge is transformed into practical technological solutions with applications in Serbia and around the world. Encounters like these with engineers can inspire young people to pursue education and careers in research, innovation, and the development of new technologies,” said Dragoljub Cucić, Director of the Regional Centre for Talented Youth.

Over the past sixteen years, the camp has welcomed more than 250 young researchers and future scientists to Idvor. Since its establishment, participation has been free of charge, serving as a reward for the achievements and dedication of talented students. The Institute Mihajlo Pupin has supported the work of the Regional Centre for Talented Youth for many years as both a sponsor and a partner.
