Recently, the Institute “Mihajlo Pupin” hosted a new round of expert lectures as part of the 16th cycle of a professional lecture series dedicated to advancing the design of telecommunications networks and systems, under the theme “Measurement and Control, SCADA Systems, Automation, and Industry 4.0.”

As part of the presentation “Application of SIL3-Certified Electronic Overspeed Protection in Steam and Gas Turbines in Industrial Plants,” Vladimir Nerandžić, Head of the Thermal Power Engineering Systems Department, presented key IMP-Automatika solutions for turbine control and protection.

Special attention was given to the ARS-TSControl turbine controller and protection systems, as well as the ARS-AMEG simulator/trainer – products certified at the highest level of functional safety (SIL 3) and already recognized on both regional and European markets.

The presentation also introduced BPC SIL3, an electronic overspeed protection system approved by leading European and Russian turbine manufacturers. The solution is currently undergoing testing in cooperation with Škoda, further confirming its quality, reliability, and market trust.
In addition to product innovations, the lecture covered practical aspects of system design and testing, including EMC requirements, reliability in industrial environments, and software tools for configuration and monitoring.
