At a recent meeting of the Gender Equality Committee of the Mihajlo Pupin Institute, the results achieved over the past year were presented. Activities aimed at encouraging girls to pursue careers in ICT, the Institute’s participation in the Partnership for Equality conference, the signing of a cooperation agreement with the Commissioner for the Protection of Equality, and the promotion of the book Women in the ICT Sector: The Case of the Mihajlo Pupin Institute at the 68th Belgrade Book Fair, within the Centre for the Promotion of Science, were highlighted as just some of the initiatives that will continue in the coming period in support of gender equality.

The meeting also addressed proposed funding allocations and concrete measures to further advance gender equality, including the development of educational and mentoring programmes, support for women’s professional development and career advancement, increased transparency in recruitment and promotion processes, as well as support programmes for employees with family responsibilities and those returning from maternity leave.
As a pioneer among research and development organisations addressing gender equality, the Mihajlo Pupin Institute adopted its Gender Equality Action Plan as early as 2013, formally embedding the principles of gender equality into its official policies and procedures.

“Our goal is to ensure equal opportunities for the professional growth of all employees through clear procedures, continuous education, and systemic support. We place particular emphasis on talent development, mentoring, and creating an environment in which knowledge, competencies, and results are the key criteria. I am confident that this approach directly contributes to strengthening the Institute’s innovation capacity and its role in the development of modern technologies,” Nikola Tomašević, PhD stated.
