Ognjen Ristić, a PhD candidate at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, University of Belgrade, recently joined the Gas Technology Center at the Mihajlo Pupin Institute. His extensive work experience, gained at the Laboratory for Metal Testing, allowed him to quickly adapt to the new areas handled by the Gas Technology Center.

“In this position, I have learned to interpret standards related to pipelines and fittings. Additionally, I participate in inspection visits to factories producing gas appliances as part of the certification and conformity assessment process. The goal of these visits is to obtain national certificates of product conformity, which allow manufacturers to display the national conformity mark,” says Ognjen, who frequently uses software to connect to various measurement devices, such as HyperTerminal, as well as specialized software developed in-house at the Mihajlo Pupin Institute.

Ognjen is engaged in scientific research, supported by the Mihajlo Pupin Institute. “Since joining, I have published one paper, and several others are awaiting publication. I always look forward to new and interesting research projects,” he adds. Ognjen highlights as the greatest advantage of working at the Institute the modern laboratories for testing gas appliances, pipelines, fittings, and installations, as well as the numerous portable devices for field inspections, which make the Gas Technology Center, a reliable partner in ensuring the safety of gas systems.
