When long-distance races are mentioned at the Mihajlo Pupin Institute, the first people who come to mind are our colleagues Miloš Milošavljević, Savo Nestorović, and Dušan Miletić, who recently participated in the 6th Čačak Half Marathon. Although the weather conditions weren’t perfect, they successfully overcame all challenges, just as they achieve daily successes at work through teamwork.
This was Miloš’s third time participating in the Čačak Half Marathon, and his goal was to beat last year’s record. “Training for the race, for those of us who frequently travel for work, often requires a lot of flexibility. So, when packing for a trip, I often throw in a pair of running shoes as well,” he says. They all crossed the finish line together as the IMP team. “Personally, I’m glad I achieved my goal, but I think I wouldn’t have enjoyed it as much, and maybe wouldn’t have even succeeded, if Dušan and Savo hadn’t been beside me,” Miloš proudly points out.
Running shoes are also an essential item in Dušan’s travel bag, who says that even after a long day in the field at one of many locations across Serbia, they still find time for a group training session. “We met at work since we all work in the Maintenance Department, and it was at the encouragement of senior colleagues that we started running. Running is a great activity for the cardiovascular system and fitness, but also for relieving stress and tension that we all face,” says Dušan.
The youngest in the team is Savo, with an impressive record of ten races completed. “Running offers various benefits, both physical and mental. I believe it builds character and helps in other areas of life, which is why I run,” says Savo.
Congratulations to our colleagues on their achievements! Their hope is that next year we’ll have at least twice as many participants in Čačak!
