The 42nd Panel on Industry 4.0 was held on Wednesday, September 25th, at the Mihajlo Pupin Institute in collaboration with the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Belgrade. The central theme was the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in the Mihajlo Pupin’s research, development, and applied projects.

The panel was attended by representatives from universities and institutes, the Chamber of Commerce, representatives of the ministries of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, as well as company representatives.

Dr. Nikola Tomašević, Director of the Mihajlo Pupin Institute, addressed the panel’s participants and guests, welcomed them, and emphasized the importance of successful cooperation between the two institutions. “Digitalization, as a core concept of Industry 4.0, is broadly applied in the Institute’s projects. For over three decades, the Institute has focused particular attention on the application of artificial intelligence in its research. The Institute is currently engaged in several dozen international projects, which speaks volumes about the competence of its research,” said Dr. Nikola Tomašević.

Professor Emeritus of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Dr. Radivoje Mitrović, highlighted the importance of the National Industry 4.0 Project, which was initiated by the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in 2015. He also added that the panel provides an excellent opportunity to connect science with industry and to present the results of their work to the public.

The panel featured presentations by researchers from the Mihajlo Pupin Institute on the application of artificial intelligence and machine learning through best practice examples in manufacturing, energy, mining, agriculture, and robotics.
