The “Mihajlo Pupin” Regional Center for Talents has been organizing a summer scientific-educational camp for the best primary and secondary school students from all over Serbia for 14 years. Тhe most talented mathematicians and physicists who won awards at domestic and international competitions in the past two years gathered in Idvor, the birthplace of Mihajlo Pupin, from July 8 to 14.
The camp organizers prepared lectures, workshops, computer simulations in physics, educational content, and various sports and recreational activities for them.
On Wednesday, July 10, a group of students, led by the center’s director Dragoljub Cucić, visited the “Mihajlo Pupin” Institute. After a brief introduction and presentation of the Institute’s portfolio, colleagues Aleksandar Car, assistant director of IMP – Automatika, and Aleksandar Pavlović, a mechanical engineering graduate, presented our products and the application of technical solutions in practice. The students were interested in the operation of thermal power plants, hydroelectric power plants, robotics, the military program, and most notably, the work of solar panels, their installation, and profitability.
“The children are thrilled with the excursion. Parents have also called me, equally enthusiastic. This was a complete success in supporting gifted students and creating a scientific youth in Serbia,” said Dragoljub Cucić, the Center’s director.
Since its inception, the camp has been free and serves as a reward for the successes and achievements of diligent and talented children. It is supported by the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Technological Development, and the general sponsor of the camp is the “Mihajlo Pupin” Institute.
“The ‘Mihajlo Pupin’ Institute has always been able to recognize quality, so we gladly supported and hosted this group of young people, future scientists. We dealt with theory, but much more with practice and demonstrating the implementation of finished products in a real environment. I believe they learned something new, and we, as always, are open to all future visits,” said Aleksandar Car, assistant director of IMP – Automatika.
