At the end of June 2025, a meeting was held at our premises in relation to the IPA Interreg ADRION GOTOTWIN (Advancing Renewable Energy in the Adriatic Ionian Region through the Use of Digital Twins) project. One of the objectives of the project is to create a flexible and adaptable platform specifically designed for renewable energy applications within the region. Hence, the teams from North Macedonia represented by prof. dr. Živko Kokolanski and dr. Daniel Denkovski and the Institute Mihajlo Pupin represented by dr. Valentina Janev and Dejan Paunović, dipl. eng. have come together to brainstorm the possibilities of data and expertise exchange between the two Living Labs. Namely, the photovoltaic power plant on the roof of the ‘Mihajlo Pupin’ Institute will be temporarily transformed into an experimental Living Lab for the development of digital twins in renewable energy sources for the GOTOTWIN purposes.

Additionally, having a long-term experience in management and revitalizing hydro power plants in Serbia and the Region, the team from the IMP-Automation, represented by Nebojša Radmilović, dipl. eng. and Željko Damljanović, dipl. eng. presented the Institute’s approach to modeling hydroelectric power plants according to the concepts of SIL and HIL (Software/Hardware-in-the-loop), as well as in creating dynamic models of production units with an emphasis on turbine regulation systems. At the meeting, the possibilities of contribution of IMP-Automation to the project with a focus of the development of hydroelectric power plant models was discussed.
