The Railway Program at the Institute Mihajlo Pupin was launched back in 2014. Nenad Jovanović, recipient of the “Best Colleague” award, was among the first team members to engage in railway signaling. He played a key role in developing the prototype of an axle counter sensor—the Institute’s first railway product. Today, his responsibilities span producing, installing, and servicing all railway components.

“My job is highly dynamic, which I truly appreciate. It offers me an interesting and ever-changing approach to tasks. One day, I’m handling emails, logs, technical correspondence between engineers and clients, tweezers, and SMD components. The next, I’m out in the field, where nothing but a drill and a hammer will get the job done,” says Nenad, who values dedication, responsibility, and teamwork.
“There’s no challenge we can’t tackle as a team, no matter how demanding. Sometimes, it requires going beyond our limits, but with the right colleagues, nothing is impossible. For me, professional relationships must go hand in hand with mutual respect and friendship,” adds Nenad, known as Neša among his coworkers.

This year, Nenad had the opportunity to represent the Institute at InnoTrans in Berlin. With his technical background, he was fascinated by the cutting-edge innovations showcased at the event. “Presenting our range of products at such a prestigious fair proves that we have something valuable to offer—we are innovative and competitive on the global market,” he concludes.
