While the IT sector is developing incredibly, women still represent less than 20% of the global workforce. In Europe, only 34% of women graduate from STEM faculties, and an even smaller percentage pursue careers in the IT industry. The Institute Mihajlo Pupin stands as a model of good practice, actively and continuously promoting gender equality, with women playing an equal role in leading and contributing to key projects. This commitment is further demonstrated through the work of the Gender Equality Committee, whose fourth session took place on December 5.

The presentation of the publication “Women in Information and Communication Technologies and Science – The Example of the Mihajlo Pupin Institute” and the inspiring examples of our colleagues showed how a balanced approach contributes to the success of the company and the community. Dr. Nikola Tomašević, Director of the Mihajlo Pupin Institute and Chair of the Committee emphasized the importance of education, transparency, and encouraging professional development to improve gender equality. “Gender equality is not just a matter of social responsibility but a key driver of innovation, productivity, and sustainable development. At the Mihajlo Pupin Institute, we believe diversity leads to better solutions and industry growth, which is why we will continue to invest in projects and initiatives that empower women in the ICT sector,” said Dr. Tomašević.

We are proud of our achievements but believe our goal is to inspire changes that will shape the future of the IT sector.
