The weekend is approaching, and with only a few days left before the new school year starts, the swimming pool season is also coming to an end. For modern facilities like the “Košutnjak” swimming pool, an efficient and safe visitor access control system is very important. The system installed at Košutnjak results from work by our engineers from the Mihajlo Pupin Institute – Computer Systems.

“So far, we have developed similar solutions for various state institutions of the Republic of Serbia. The system is a complete domestic product—our Institute designs the system, manufactures the hardware, programs the embedded software, and provides maintenance and support. This comprehensive system, based on web communication, is used for administration, control, and monitoring. It works by scanning a QR code from a ticket or mobile phone, or a contactless card, at a user-friendly terminal. If access is granted, the gate unlocks, and the ticket is voided after successful passage,” said Darko Čelebić.

The system’s reliability and efficiency are further supported by the fact that there were no crowding issues at the entrance, despite the pool being very popular this year—with up to 4,000 people passing through the terminals daily and a projected total of over 150,000 visitors by the end of the season.

“We installed the visitor access control system at the beginning of the season and are very satisfied with its performance, as it has proven excellent, fulfilling all required functions, and operating efficiently and without interruption throughout the summer,” said Miljan Čantrić, Assistant Director of the Institute for Sport and Sports Medicine RS.
