E-go represents completely new toll collection technology solution with the best cost/performance ratio. It also provides simple and reliable operation combined with the highest security of data exchange with encrypted data transfer.

This system was developed by Institute Mihailo Pupin, major ITS integrator in SE Europe. For the time being the e-Go system is installed on the highway stretch between Belgrade and border with Republic of Croatia and it is expected that it will become operational on all stretches of Serbian highways (603 km) by the end of this year.

So far 31 lanes are equipped with this system and by the time it is finished more than 160 lanes on Serbian highways will be available to vehicles equipped with OBU.

Highway users can now choose the way of paying the toll: by cash, credit cards or electronic. In case of ETC payment when the vehicle is approaching the pay toll booth its presence, direction, class and license plate number are detected by the system in the real time and the time and place of entering the Toll Collect System are recorded to OBU. The same operation is carried out if the payment is performed by cash or credit card only the data is than recorded to magnetic ticket. The toll amount due is calculated based on the vehicle category and distance traveled and it is deducted from the prepaid sum written on OBU. The drivers in Serbia should soon be able to add the amount on their OBU through Internet or SMS.

The new Toll Collect system in Serbia is completely in compliance with EU recommendations and standards for electronic tolling interoperability.
