On Science Day, July 10, the Mihajlo Pupin Institute welcomed participants of the summer science-education camp organized by the Regional Talent Center “Mihajlo Idvorski Pupin.” This year, the camp has an international character, bringing together 18 of the best young mathematicians and physicists from Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovenia, and Romania in Idvor, Pupin’s birthplace. The organizers prepared lectures, workshops, computer simulations in physics, educational content, and various sports and recreational activities for them.
During their visit, the students had the opportunity to learn more about the Institute through engaging presentations and discussions with our researchers and engineers. They explored European projects, thermal and hydro power plants, the military program, and telecommunications. The students also toured the production facilities of IMP-Automatika, a classroom with military simulators at IMP-Computer Systems, and the IMP-Telecommunications laboratory, where they could see practical applications of our solutions.
“We are very pleased with this visit. This year, the camp is more complex than in previous years—it will involve applied physics with electronics. In addition to older primary school pupils and younger high school students, this year we are also training eight senior high school students (second and third grade) who will serve as assistants and mentors for future activities,” said the director of the Regional Talent Center.
Over the past 15 years, 250 young researchers and future scientists have participated in the Idvor camp. Since its founding, the camp has been free of charge, serving as a reward for the achievements of hardworking and talented children. The Mihajlo Pupin Institute has supported the camp for years as its general sponsor and partner.
