One of the recipients of the “Best Associate” award at the Mihajlo Pupin Institute in 2024 is Željko Damljanović, a young colleague employed at IMP-Automatika. With an engineering background, he precisely states that he joined the Complex Systems Regulation team four years and four months ago.
Željko’s degree from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the University of Belgrade enabled him to immediately develop and apply control and regulation algorithms for thermal and hydropower plants in Serbia after completing his studies.

“These algorithms mainly relate to turbine regulation systems and centralized remote voltage and reactive power regulation at power generation facilities. I am also involved in projects that include dynamic modeling and analysis of power generation units and other equipment within the Electric Power System, using optimization algorithms,” says Željko, adding that he highly values the opportunity to work on challenging projects at the Institute and see the practical results of his work.
Through his research, Željko participates in domestic and European studies and believes that the Institute is an excellent place for building a career, “since it offers the opportunity to acquire a wide range of knowledge by working on projects representing the highest level of automation and digitalization in our country, as well as the chance to learn from experienced experts, as the Institute fosters a culture of knowledge sharing,” he adds.
