This year marks the 100th anniversary of Serbian scientist Mihajlo Pupin been awarded the Pulitzer Prize for his autobiography, From Immigrant to Inventor. In this inspiring account, Pupin shares his journey from a humble shepherd in Idvor to becoming one of the most influential inventors in the world. Born 170 years ago in the small village of Idvor, Pupin’s contributions continue to resonate globally.
As part of this important milestone, the “October Meetings” were held at the Mihajlo Pupin Memorial House in Idvor. Maja Gojković, President of the Provincial Government inaugurated which was attended by key government officials, including Vukašin Grozdić from the Ministry of Science, and Ivan Bošnjak from the Ministry of Human and Minority Rights.
A highlight of the event was the recognition of outstanding students from the Mihajlo Pupin Regional Talent Center in Pančevo, whose achievements in the summer camp were celebrated. This camp, established 14 years ago, thrives thanks to the support of the Mihajlo Pupin Institute.
Representing the Institute, Dr. Slavica Bostjančič Rakas accepted an award for its continued dedication to nurturing young talents. She highlighted the Institute’s ongoing commitment to advancing scientific innovation and empowering future generations:
