As part of its disseminating activities on the European Union Framework Programme Six project Web4WeB (Web technologies for West Balkan countries), the Mihailo Pupin Institute organized the International Workshop “ Semantic Web and/or Web 2.0: Competitive or Complementary”.

The workshop was held on September 29-30, 2008, where the first day was dedicated to tutorial papers , which were presented by the most distinguished European researchers in these fields like Dr. Sören Auer, Dr. Tim Furche Dr. Margaretha Mazura and Dr. Andreas Doms. The second day was devoted to the regular papers of researchers from the West Balkan countries.

The Workshop has gathered the researchers from all West Balkan countries, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia, and they had an opportunity to meet our distinguished invited speakers and to get the first hand information about the most recent trends, techniques and applications of Semantic Web and Web 2.0, and also to meet each other and intensify their mutual cooperation in this field. As one of the positive outcomes of this Workshop, young researchers from the Mihailo Pupin Institute will have the possibility to undertake the study visit to the leading European research institutions in the field.
