Our colleagues from The Institute Mihajlo Pupin Nemanja Nešić, Bratislav Planić, Nikola Antić, Stefan Đurov, Đorđe Rađenović, Ivan Milošević, Mladen Ilić, and Uroš Milić put together a fantastic team to win the football IT league championship recently. From November to May, eight teams competed for the championship cup during the tournament.

Our colleague Ivan Milošević was named the best assistant in the league with 27 assists in 17 games. Furthermore, he scored 20 goals, which is the league’s best aggregate coefficient.

Our colleagues also won a cash prize in the amount of 100,000.00 RSD and unanimously decided to donate the money for humanitarian purposes to the Children’s Oncology Clinic, thus showing humanity in action and big hearts.

The Institute Mihajlo Pupin has been hosting soccer sessions for its employees at the Enfield sports center twice weekly for many years. “Socializing after sports is a crucial part of every game, known as the third half. This gave us the opportunity to get to know our colleagues from the Institute more closely than before, but also to meet other colleagues from companies participating in the league,” says Bratislav Planić Chief Technology Officer at IMP. Apart from playing football recreationally, no one plays sports professionally, so this title gains weight and importance.

Colleagues all agree that this activity is important to them, for their health and physical fitness, but also for socializing and establishing new connections.

During its official visit to the Republic of Serbia, the delegation of the Republic of Gabon was a guest at the Mihajlo Pupin Institute on Tuesday, May 21, 2024. The delegation was led by the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Gabon General de Division Brigitte Onkanowa. The meeting was also attended by representatives of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Serbia.

Cooperation in science, education, and projects that IMP researchers worked on during the previous period were the topics of the meeting.

The representatives of the Republic of Gabon have shown great interest in cooperating with our Institute in the coming period, both in their country’s market and in their neighboring markets.

The 66th International Fair of Technology and Technical Achievements was officially opened yesterday with the tagline ‘We inspire development’. Over 600 exhibitors attended this year’s fair, with 250 of them being foreign from over 32 countries.

The fair was opened by the Minister of Science, Technological Development and Innovation, Jelena Begović, PhD.

“The exhibition of the Republic of Serbia was organized by as many as five ministries in the Government of the Republic of Serbia, which speaks of how science and the development of innovations are recognized by the state itself. Within our exhibition, innovative products, ideas, and research that were created in scientific research organizations, at faculties, at institutes, created by scientists, engineers, but also entrepreneurs, both from Serbia and from the partner countries of this year’s exhibition of the National of the Republic of China”, said Minister Begović.

The opening was attended by the President of the National Assembly of Serbia, Ana Brnabić, the Deputy Minister of Science and Technology of the People’s Republic of China, the Ministers of Information and Sports, as well as numerous domestic and foreign officials.

The Mihajlo Pupin Institute’s participation is already a tradition, so we showcased five exhibits to both domestic and foreign visitors on this occasion.

„The Mihajlo Pupin Institute is a true example of cooperation between science and business, considering that we cooperate with a large number of companies, but also with a network of international institutions with whom we cooperate on international projects, especially EU projects within the Horizon Europe program. As for our presence at the Fair, all five exhibits were created within the Institute, they are the result of our researchers’ own research and development. Within the area of management in the energy domain, a hydraulic aggregate connected to a safety TCipm block, turbine overspeed protection and a system for measuring and analyzing the vibration state of rotary machines are presented. I would like to point out that few companies in the world are able to offer, supply and put into operation for overspeed protection of turbines, and at the same time it is a device from our Institute that is certified for SIL 3 level of safety integrity. From the field of traffic management, a radio dispatch center, a product of the Institute’s railway program, was presented, while from the road traffic program, a system for intelligent transport systems was presented“, said the director of the Mihajlo Pupin Institute, Nikola Tomašević, PhD.

After the opening ceremony, our stand was visited by Minister Dr. Jelena Begović, who informed herself about the exhibits, their appearance on the domestic and foreign market and praised the work of our Institute.

During the next three days of the Fair, visitors will be able to get acquainted with new technologies, innovative products, talk with scientists and innovators and see how science is applied in everyday life and how science can solve the problems we face as individuals and as countries, and as humanity.

On Wednesday 27.03.2024 The Minister of Economy of the Republic of Serbia, Slobodan Cvetković, visited the “Mihajlo Pupin” Institute.

The aim of the visit was for the minister to familiarize himself with the work and products of the Institute, as well as to consider possible opportunities for establishing and improving cooperation between the economy and science on the local, regional and global market.

In front of the Mihajlo Pupin Institute, the minister was welcomed by the director of the Institute, Dr. Nikola Tomašević, B.Sc. and his assistant for finance and cooperation with the economy, Željko Stojković, B.Sc. Eng., and then our activities on the domestic and foreign markets were presented to the minister.

During the visit, various segments of the commercial program were presented to the minister, primarily training systems and simulators from the military program, such as NORA (training system for training cadets and recruits, conditioning artillery crews as well as tactical simulations of command staff) and TOPOT (trainинг system for training members the crew of the M84 tank), as well as various systems from the electric power industry program, such as a system for monitoring and analyzing vibrations, as an independent system and as an extension of the existing control systems of the IMP, a hydraulic and electronic system for the protection of turbines that are controlled by hydraulic executive elements ( SIL 3 certified), as well as a distributed system for management and regulation of the thermoblock, ready for installation in TE Morava in Svilajnac.

The minister pointed out that scientific institutes can have a serious impact on the economy, and that the economy is currently not fully utilizing all possible technological potential, as well as that the Serbian economy with such serious scientific institutes can be in a position to offer new achievements to the global market. On the other hand, our general director Dr. Nikola Tomašević emphasized that cooperation with the Ministry of Economy is of great importance for the commercialization of scientific and research results.

The Minister of Mining and Energy Dubravka Đedović Handanović visited on 25.3.2024 the construction site of the flue-gas desulphurization plant at the thermal power plant Nikola Tesla A (TENT A), which will soon be put into trial operation.

This type of plant is the largest environmental project in a thermal power plant in Europe, which contributes to the reduction of sulfur dioxide (SO2) emissions tenfold, as well as particulate matter within the limits set by the European Union and national regulations, which will significantly improve air quality.

“With projects like this, we somewhat extend the ecological life of thermal power plants, which is important for the production of base energy. Until we build enough capacities from renewable energy sources, or until we reach some other base energy, we will have to rely on capacities from thermal power plants, of course in accordance with the highest environmental standards,” said the minister.

She reminded that this project is implemented with the financial support of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), and that the Mihajlo Pupin Institute participated in the realization of this project, working on software, electronics and digitalization of the operation of this plant.

The Mihajlo Pupin Institute is also working on the realization of such a plant in the Nikola Tesla B thermal power plant, which will enable the reduction of sulfur dioxide emissions by about 20 times.

Today, the Agreement on business and technical cooperation between the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure and the “Mihajlo Pupin” Institute in the field of road and rail transport was signed on our premises.

The Agreement was signed by the Minister Goran Vesić and our director general  Dr. Nikola Tomašević.

It was established that our Institute is ready to participate in all strategic projects carried out by the Ministry, taking into account that the most important projects in our country should be entrusted to our institutes and our work force.

On Thursday, March 23, 2023,  Institute Mihajlo Pupin hosted a delegation from the Huawei corporation, which consisted of Mr. Tom Huang, Director of partner development department, Mr. Jimmy Shao, Director of transportation account, Mr. Xinsuo Nie, Solution director of enterprise business, as well as Mr. Li Rui from the Consulate of the Embassy of the PR China in Serbia.

The guests were received on behalf of the Institute Mihajlo Pupin by Željko Stojković, dipl.ing., assistant director for finance and cooperation with the economy and Dr. Marko Batić, assistant director for international cooperation and technology transfer of the “Mihajlo Pupin” Institute.

The aim of the visit was to inform the representatives of the Huawei Corporation about the work and functioning of the “Mihajlo Pupin” Institute, the most important projects, achieved results and expertise.

During the conversation, the possibilities of cooperation in various scientific and technological areas of development were discussed.

On Wednesday, March 15, 2023, the Institute Mihajlo Pupin hosted a delegation from the Chinese company China Railway Signal and Communication Co. Ltd. (CRSC International) and its branch registered in Belgrade, CRSC International Co. Ltd. Belgrade Branch. The delegation consisted of Li Min, Vice President of the CRSC International Co.Ltd., Xu Yang, commercial director of the Branch in Serbia and Zhu Yubao, project manager on the Belgrade-Subotica high-speed rail project.

The guests were received by Dr Nikola Tomašević, Ph.D.El.Eng. director general of the Institute Mihajlo Pupin, Željko Stojković, B.Sc.El.Eng. assistant general director for finance and cooperation with the economy, Ljubomir Bečejac, B.Sc.Mech.Eng. director of the railway project and Mladen Gajčanski, B.Sc.Traff.Eng., assistant director of the railway project.

The aim of the visit was to inform representatives of the Chinese company about the work and achievements of the  Institute Mihajlo Pupin, the most significant projects, achieved results and expertise. Special attention is devoted to the presentation of the Institute’s railway program, i.e. solutions in the field of railway signalling, telecommunications and radio systems, starting from design, engineering, development of technical solutions and products, assembly, to commissioning and maintenance.

Institute Mihajlo Pupin is one of the main subcontractors of the Chinese company CRSC International Co.Ltd. Belgrade Branch on the Belgrade-Subotica high-speed rail project in the field of signalling and telecommunications. In this regard, the representatives of the Institute expressed their desire to expand and improve cooperation with CRSC International Co.Ltd. on projects in the Republic of Serbia, since our common goal is the fastest possible development and safety of railway traffic.

After the presentation,  the visit included a tour of the Institute’s most important development and research laboratories, among which is the EMC Laboratory for testing electromagnetic compatibility, the plant for the production of thermal and hydropower control systems, as well as the production plant of the Institute’s products and solutions in the area of railway signalling, telecommunications and radio systems.

On Wednesday, November 30, 2022, the Mihajlo Pupin Institute had the honor of being visited by the President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Dr. Vladimir Orlić.

He was welcomed by Dr. Nikola Tomašević, director of the Institute, with his first associate, Dr. Marko Batić, assistant director for international cooperation and technology transfer. After an introductory presentation on the historical development and work of the Institute, the guest was presented with the most current and most important research and commercial projects that resulted from cooperation with industry and international scientific-research institutions.

The visit continued with a tour of the Institute. The demonstration of special purpose simulators and trainers adapted for military purposes left a special impression on the guest.
